about

Non-Playable was recorded with engineer and musician Graham Pogson (GL, Bamboos), mixed and produced by Woody Annison and Black Cab, and mastered by Andrei Eremin.

A ‘non-playable character’ refers to video game characters that cannot be controlled by human players. It can be used as an insult to suggest that certain people are unable to form thoughts or opinions. And it’s also what it feels like to get old. The artwork is a default character (‘Cooper’) from the game engine Unreal Engine.

lyrics

Getting good - at getting old
Getting good - at running slow
I kept my feet on the ground
Now all my suns - are going down

Have I become non-playable?
Have I become - invisible?
I kept my feet on the ground
Have I become non-playable?

So I take my place - in the scenery
And only kids - can work machinery
I’ll make this game seem real
and all your feeds’ll tell ya how to feel

Have I become non-playable?
Have I become - unacceptable?
I kept my feet on the ground
Have I become non-playable?

I kept my feet on the ground
I kept my feet on the ground

Have I become non-playable?
Have I become - invisible?
I kept my feet on the ground
And all my suns - are going down

I’ve kept my feet on the ground
I’ve kept my feet on the ground
I’ve kept my feet on the ground
I’ve kept my feet on the ground…
